US stock levels remain high, demand weak in Europe
The fourth quarter of year this year is seen as an important index for the development of the steel industry in 2007. Steel demand from Europe has weakened recently while stock levels in the US market are currently high. It is estimated that US stock levels are enough to meet demand for four months. Under such circumstances, many Taiwanese steel exporters could be pessimistic to see the steel export in the fourth quarter. They further believe the performance of the fourth quarter will have a big effect on the market next year. (Nov. 3)
